I completed my first 5K this weekend - 29 min 30 secs. It was my third outdoor run, so I was pretty happy. On my first outdoor run I ended up running 6.6 miles and I was a zombie for the rest of the day - definately a case of overtraining. Avoiding overtraining is easy in the gym, but I find it harder outside - especially as you have to turn around get back to where you started - you can't just step off the treadmill when your done.
